REPLACEMENT FOR HALOGEN BULBS LEDS

Today, many modern cars leave the factory with some of the old halogen bulbs used for lights and license plate, replaced by LEDs that, in principle, have a much longer shelf life, lower power consumption, and a more modern look.

For cars that still use halogen bulbs, they sell different types of LEDs that can replace old bulbs.

Note that this substitution may involve no MOT, but apparently, if the intensity of the LEDs is similar to that of halogen bulbs replaced, and the color is white to the color of the xenon headlights (between 4500 ° K - 6000 K), ITV centers tend not to inconvenience. Nevertheless, everyone should consider and learn from the consequences of this change may cause.

An intermediate solution between halogen and LED bulbs can be Philips Blue Vision.

MATERIAL

The bulbs are replaced two front position 2 in the rear license plate.

The original models are:

FRONT POSITION: H6W. The "pins" are "offset" of 150 º

LIGHTING REGISTRATION: C5W (37mm approx.)

There are many brands and types of LEDs (color, intensity, technologies ...). Tests were conducted with the following models:

Front position:

WITH CANBUS 8 SMD LED ERROR FREE

(CANBUS ERROR FREE prevents the car computer display possible warnings

light bulbs, associated with low consumption of LEDs compared to halogen bulbs)

1 LED WITHOUT CANBUS ERROR FREE

LIGHTING REGISTRATION:

WITH 3 LED SMD CANBUS ERROR FREE

(CANBUS ERROR FREE prevents the car computer display possible warnings

light bulbs, associated with low consumption of LEDs compared to halogen bulbs)

PROCEDURE

To replace the front position lamps must remove the two motor protectors, found on the right and left.

The tests performed to compare the different types of lighting were:

Halogen bulb --- 8 SMD LED

  Halogen bulb --- LED 1

  8 SMD LED --- LED 1

Finally, we left as final 8 SMD LED type, because they were those with more intensity similar to halogen bulbs, and a white tone, very similar to xenon.
